Maine’s Unclaimed Property Division
As of June 30th, 2009 Maine’s Unclaimed Property Program was holding just over $152 Million in unclaimed money.
In fiscal year 2009 alone the state of Maine received $25.9 Million in unclaimed property. In the same fiscal year just under half of that amount at $12.7 Million was returned to rightful owners and heirs to 18,562 claims. The average claim was $687. Even more exciting, the largest single claim paid to date to one person was $358,000.
